Tell me about it. I’m moving to France in 11 days. White people keep asking if I’m excited, then looking surprised when I say no.
Whiteness confers the privilege of being oblivious of racism. Being black + living in France = Hell. They are much more virulent in their micro-aggressions and open about their racism than Anglo-saxons. On top of that, they are so sure of being worth shit and all HHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHA They have still not gottern over that fact that unlike 3 centuries ago, France is NOT the center of the world nor the most powerful country on Earth anymore. They are still soooo hurt over this!
‘We are the country of human rights’ Yeah my ass!! Fucking savages, your history is indeed a testimony of how much you stand for human rights LMAO! Also sexual harrassemnt as a black woman…
France …. ewwwwwwww
Good luck! You WILL NEED SOME!
France would back an African military intervention in northern Mali, Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Saturday.
But even if he believed such an operation was inevitable — and desirable — it was not for France to take the lead, he added.
“It is not for France to take the military initiative in Mali,” he told journalists during a visit to Lorient in northwest France.
He said France “wants it to be the African forces, in particular those of ECOWAS (the Economic Community of West African States) and possibly the African Union, that take the initiative,” he said.
An African military intervention in northern Mali was “desirable and inevitable,” he added.
“France will support it and, I hope, the European Union also.”
At stake was political stability in the south of Mali which was not yet guaranteed, even if interim president Dioncounda Traore had returned to the country from Paris earlier this week, he added.
The situation in the north of the country was “very worrying”, said Le Drian.
He added that he would be discussing Mali with his Spanish counterpart Pedro Morenes later this month, taking time out from a holiday in Spain.
Terrorists freed two Spanish aid workers together with an Italian colleague in northern Mali last month: they had abducted them from a Sahrawi refugee camp in Tindouf in western Algeria last October.
Their captors, the previously unknown Movement for Unity and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO), says it is an offshoot of AQIM.
In a speech on July 14, Bastille Day in France, French President Francois Hollande also said that it was for Africans to decide when and how to intervene in northern Mali, though at the same time he promised unspecified support.
ECOWAS wants to send a 3,000-strong military force to Mali, but is waiting for United Nations approval and a formal request from Bamako.
On Wednesday, ECOWAS pledged support for Mali’s interim president Dioncounda Traore, after mediators extended a deadline for the country to form a unity government.
Diarra’s interim government was set up in April to take over from the junta which seized power on March 22.
The five-month-old conflict has forced 260,000 Malians to flee to neighbouring countries, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres told reporters Friday after a visit to the region.
OMG NOOOOOO NOO
Didn’t I tell you?? Didn’t I??
This is ALWAYS how they start, ALWAYS!!
That is what all the talks about ‘Al Qaeda au Maghreb islamique’ were about! They have to get the sheepish western minds ready, just like they did with Libya because this independent country is threatening their reserves of Uranium in Niger and Oil in Algeria.
And no one cares obviously about African lives!! All that for western fuckers to enjoy cheap oil and atomic bombs.
France vs England kicks off in about an hour and the TV in my room is not working that means I will have to go downstairs in the kitchen to watch it and I really do not want to leave my bed.
Does anyone know a site where I can watch online? Please? (^_^)
When, as happened recently in France, an attempt is made to coerce women out of the burqa rather than creating a situation in which a woman can choose what she wishes to do, it’s not about liberating her, but about unclothing her. It becomes an act of humiliation and cultural imperialism. It’s not about the burqa. It’s about the coercion. Coercing a woman out of a burqa is as bad as coercing her into one. Viewing gender in this way, shorn of social, political and economic context, makes it an issue of identity, a battle of props and costumes. It is what allowed the US government to use western feminist groups as moral cover when it invaded Afghanistan in 2001. Afghan women were (and are) in terrible trouble under the Taliban. But dropping daisy-cutters on them was not going to solve their problems.
Mini Francois Hollande appreciation post!!

Being a Black woman in france
I’m always amazed by the quite positive image most of you have of my country (or i’d rather say, the country i live and from whom i’ve got my ID). Like, some of you even use the world “femme”, instead of female because they think it’s more flattering. Hey, i totally understand that, i wouldn’t like being called a female or “femelle” because as far as i’m concernend, i’m not an animal, but you have no idea what “femme” means in the french culture and theincredible misogyny of the french culture, where for exemple, there’s no gender neutral pronon. See, i can’t even say “my partner” without having to choose it’s gender.
But let’s get to the point. I’ve been reading so many Sj blogs lately. But life IRL is not like tumblr. None of my white friends are going to excuse themselves for their white privileges (something they don’t need to do). Black men don’t come to me telling me they’ll try to be more respectful of their women. So one of my friends told me i was seeing everything between the prism of racism and sex. i told him i’ve no over choice because as a Black women i’m fucked, and fucked over by everyone. I was talking with another one about my homeland and he told me something along the lines of “Shut up, you don’t know what you’re saying, i’ll talk with your (male) friend who know better.”
And the so-called male friend has to defend me so that i could keep on talking but even them, he didn’t wanted to hear me. I’m not in a good place right now.
I’m sick and tired of all these fights i’ve to take, sick and tired of being a “strong and independant black woman” because i’ve to fight against the whole wide world. I don’t have the strenght anymore. People say the US sucks for black people and they’re right but at least there’s a discution about race: there’s none where i live. When i speak people think i’m crazy and i’m starting to wandering if i’m not. I’m poor, and i’m black, and i’m a woman and i always thought, at least when i was white identifying, that everything will be alright when i’ll succeed but you know what? I can’t.
You know what race privilige is? It’s all the white person who mangage to get the entry to the French biggest school i’ve applied to. Despite the so-called school prasing all the achievements i’ve done so far in all my 21 years of existence as a writer and an actress, despite them telling me how professional i already am and how most of the other contestant as nowhere near skilled as i am. And it’s not the first time. I’m way to ambitious for a simple black woman to many school and that was always the same answer, despite my grades. Race privilege is all the people who don’t nearly have as many difficulties as the ones i face everyday just to survive and who have the chance i do need because i have one casting every two weeks and nothing as a writer, unless what i’m doing on my own.
Nobody gives a fuck about black woman, except for fucking them because they’re supposed to be some kind of “sexual objects”. I’ve been to Uk so many times and even though as so many say, it’s fucked there, guess what? In that wonderful country called france where we eat baguettes every day and got to see the Eiffel tower, it’s even worse.
So i’m leaving. For good. I can’t anymore, anyway.
Thank you for sharing this.
Being a black woman in France, one of the hardest thing ever! So just imagine being a queer or/and trans or/and disabled black woman UGH
That country should fall in a hole, full of racist fucks!!
Why This Woman Scares Me
France’s first round of presidential elections are coming up on April 22nd, and three main candidates, two from the left and one from the right, are emerging as the frontrunners to to run against President Sarkozy. Sarkozy is head of the Union pour un Mouvement Populaire (UMP), which is a right wing party. But the woman I want to talk about is Marine Le Pen, head of the Front National, which is a far right wing party. And when I say far right, I mean almost to the point of fascism.
First, let’s give a little background into the French election system. On Sunday, April 22nd, citizens of France eighteen years of age or older will head to the polls to narrow the current field of ten candidates to one, to run against the incumbent president (Sarkozy). Then on May 6th, the voters will elect the next president for a five year term.
One of the three main competitors against Sarkozy is Marine Le Pen. It is important to note that like the U.S., France has never had a woman president (In 2007, Sarkozy ran against Ségolène Royal, and won by two million votes).
Marine Le Pen, however, should never be allowed anywhere near the Palais de l’Élysée, or the Presidency.
This is why this woman scares me:
- She is opposed to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), a part of the European Union which helps farmers by subsidizing crops and land, while creating a minimum price for goods sold.
- She wants to break apart from the European Union completely, and opposes the euro and the Treaty of Lisbon.
- She wants to put a moratorium on legal immigration (and illegal immigration - don’t even get her started)
- She wants to reinstate capital punishment in France
- She does not condone abortion, even in cases of rape or incest
- After the Toulouse shootings, even after her fellow right winger Sarkozy said not to make the shootings into a prejudiced hate speech against Islam, Le Pen said this: “We have underestimated, I think, the rise of radical Islam in our country.”
- She also said this: “It is time to wage war on these fundamentalist political religious groups who are killing our children.”
In a world where reason is needed, electing this woman President would inhibit our growth as a world, and destroy the fundamental bonds that hold our countries together.
On a side note, did you know that the President’s official vacation home is the coolest house ever?
That is the Fort de Brégançon, and I want to live there.
Keep your eyes wide, and your mind wider
Less than three months ago Le Pen was guest of honour at a Burschenshaften Ball in Vienna, Austria where she chose to dance with Austrian far right Freedom Party leader Martin Graff, who is a member of Olympia, a secret society which excludes Jews from its ranks.
Graff’s party is dedicated to the establishment of a ‘Germanic Cultural Community’ – the Nazi overtones are deliberate. The ball itself is notorious (and likely to be banned) as a gathering of far-right extremists, and Le Pen (like her father, a previous guest-of-honour) was likely making a knowing gesture of allegiance to far-right extremism.
